Romans 6:12 (NKJV) — 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.

Christians can allow sin to rule their life. Paul writes to the church in Rome and tells them not to allow sin to reign in their life or body. Many try to live a successful Christian life while at the same time allowing sin to rule them. It is impossible to succeed as a Christian and at the same time live in sin!

When we accepted Christ, we were placed into Jesus Christ. When a believer is baptized, he proclaims that he is being identified with Christ. When we were placed under the water, we proclaimed we died to sin and were raised from the water declaring that we were raised from the dead with Christ to new life.

God has called His followers (Christians) to live a victorious life in Him. We must resist sin. (Child Evangelism Fellowship definition of sin: “Sin is any thought or behavior that is contrary to the Word of God or His character. It is anything one thinks, says, or does that is displeasing to God.”) In the flesh, we have no control over sin. But living in the Spirit, or having the Spirit live in us we have the power of God to overcome sin.

Christians can live a victorious, Spirit-filled life. How do we do this? Quit thinking about not sinning and focus on God! When we think about not sinning, we are allowing sin to dominate our thought process. Paul writes to the Philippian Church, “Let this mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus” Philippians 2:5

In Philippians 4:6-8, Paul wrote, “6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”

When Jesus was tempted by Satan, He demanded Satan to get behind Him and then quoted Scripture.

Today choose to live the victorious Christian life! Focus on Jesus.
