1 John 2:3–6 (NKJV)
3 Now by this we know that we know Him if we keep His commandments.
4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him.
6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.

Back in 1958 the “Teddy Bears” put out a song entitled “To Know Him is to love Him.” The song is stuck in my head. Be that as it may, there is a love does stick not just in our head but in our entire being. It is the love of Christ. To love Him is more than an emotional feeling. It is more than just words coming from our mouth. The love we have for Christ is an absolute commitment we make to Him. We live in His love.

The world walks in the darkness of sin. Christians walk in the “Light of Jesus.” The Christian walks through a world of darkness but does not live in the darkness. Christians are victorious over sin not in themselves but by walking in the Light. John writes in 1 John 1:7, “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.”

Warren Wiersbe writes, “To walk in the light means to be open and honest, to be sincere.” There is no false pretense in the Christians life.

To abide in Christ is a call for all Christians. Our love for Christ…His love for us strengthens us not to walk in the sinful darkness of this world. Our goal, our desire is to walk in the love of Jesus. To truly know Jesus is to love Jesus. If we love Jesus, we love the family of Jesus. If we love the family of Jesus, we want to be with the family of Jesus.

I wonder, did I use the name of Jesus enough. The point being life is all about Jesus…if there is not Jesus there is no life.
