Matthew 10:28, “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”
Death is not the end of life. It is the beginning of eternity outside of this earthly body. Physical death opens the door to either eternity in Hell with Satan or eternity in Heaven with God.
Who will spend eternity in Hell with Satan?
Revelation 21:8, “But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
In short, those who reject Jesus and His salvation will spend eternity separated from Him in Hell. What a lonely, horrible existence. Eternity spent with the memory of a lifetime of rejecting God and His love.
Jesus says we have a choice. In John 3:36, Jesus says, “He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”
Jesus says in Matthew 25:46, “And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” If a person goes to Hell it is not because God sent them there; it is because that was their choice.
Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” A person earns their existence in Hell. Sin pays a price. Sin leaves a deep hollow hole of extinction in a person’s life. It is a hole of emptiness that can never be filled and yet many try. If a person ends up in Hell, he has worked for it.
God’s gift to all people is “eternal life” found only in Jesus Christ. It is a gift. We cannot earn it. We receive the gift of eternal life through accepting Jesus as Savior and Lord of our lives.
John 1:12, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.”
