Jeremiah 33:3
3‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’
God has life under control. It may seem as if Satan has life under his control. He does not!
Jeremiah was imprisoned and was calling upon God. God showed him things that related to the future of Israel. The nation had fallen away from God. God was not finished with them. They would be taken into captivity. But God was not finished with them. He had a future and hope for the nation.
There are great and mighty things God has in store for us. God has a plan and purpose for each of our lives. God told Jeremiah in Chapter 29, Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
We may have gone astray in our lives and may have forsaken God. We may have tried to live the Christian life according to what we wanted and failed miserably. We may have turned our backs on God. Here is the Good News, God has not quit on us. God still has a plan and purpose for us. Just as God allowed the Israelites to go into captivity, He also restored the nation.
There are the dark days in our lives where we have tried to live by our standards and do our own thing. We may have pushed God to the side and told Him we have it “going on” to use a phrase someone says often to me. There comes a time that our doing life our way leads to failure. We become imprisoned in our own desires and way of life. We become imprisoned sometimes because we are following God, but more so because we are following our own way in life.
Here is hope! God has a purpose for each one of us. God knows His plan and purpose. True hope is based on the revealed Word of God. Jeremiah was writing to the Jews taken into captivity. To those who had given up any semblance of hope. Some days seem like this to many Christians. But know, God has a purpose for your life. This purpose is not found living outside of who He is. It is found when we call upon Him with all our heart. Jeremiah 29:13 “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” There is no halfhearted Christianity.
