Matthew 7:24–27 24, “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”
Khrushchev was correct. “We will take America without firing a shot. We do not have to invade the U.S. We will destroy you from within….” The nation with the most churches, Bibles, Christian denominations, and freedom to worship God is the nation that is moving further and further away from God. The foundation has shifted from the Rock to the “sand”. From one generation to the next America moved from the Solid Rock to the shifting sand.
Notice the words of Jesus, “…whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and DOES THEM.” Christianity is not a passive religion. It is faith put into action. It is not a faith built on shifting sand. Christianity does not change with the latest fads or whims of “feelings”. There is a foundation to the faith. His name is Jesus.
Many are like Billy Joel’s song, “My Life”, “I don’t care what you say anymore this is my life Go ahead with your own life leave me alone.” The foundation of sand is like the words of “His Majesty the Baby.” Complete narcissism. “I want it now and I want it my way.” For many the Christian life is okay as long as you don’t ask me to give up my thoughts and pleasures. Many accept Christ to go the Heaven but live their lives for the devil.
We must be more concerned with the attitude of Jesus,”Philippians 2:5”, than the vain philosophies of today. If we truly care about and love others then we must be leading them to the “Solid Rock”, Jesus. Agreeing with someone to make them feel good is like the warnings given to swimmers in Panama City, Florida. They are warned of the “rip tides” in the Gulf. The warnings are not given to keep people from enjoying the gulf, but to let them know, if they go out there they can drown.
God has given us everything we need to live a life of fulfillment. 2 Peter 1:3–4,“3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”
