Jeremiah 2:13 (NKJV)
“For My people have committed two evils:
They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters,
And hewn themselves cisterns—broken cisterns that can hold no water.

The sins Jeremiah wrote about were apostasy and wicked, idolatrous living. The people had forsaken God. God was the fountain of living water. He was the giver of life. The love, joy, peace, and faithfulness had been forsaken by God’s people and exchanged for the lust of this world.

Idols were now being worshiped.

The people now sought fulfillment in life through the empty substitutes of the world. The turned to the empty things only the world could offer. They seeked out the wealth of this world. They trusted in the false gods, idols, and worldly religions.

They discovered fullness of life is not found in the things of this world. True life can be found only in God. We live in a day people are seeking fulness of life. The fulness of life can only be found in Jesus and Him alone. Satan has fooled so many, so many in the church. People even go to church seeking fulness of life by worshiping God by the standards of the world.

Hopeless is the person seeking God by the ways of Satan.

John 4:10–14
10 Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”
11 The woman said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water? 12 Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?”
13 Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and His righteousness.
