Daily Devotion (March 1, 2025)
“Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies.” (Proverbs 31:10)
This devotion is not about finding a wife, but about knowing the plans God has for us. His plans are always perfect. Our lives are guided by the plans God has laid out for us. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
God’s perfect plan for my life was born on March 1, 1952. Kathryn (nmi) Johnson was born to Doctor James and Virginia Johnson. I was not around at that time. God knew His perfect plan for her live. Not only twenty-two years later would she be married to me, but she would give birth to three beautiful children. I look at our children as a great success story. Not only were they raised to know Jesus, but they have also become successful in what God has called them to be and to do. Where did they get their work ethic…from their mother. Kathy may not be seen as “perfect” to other people, but to me she is the most perfect person on earth. I prayed for God to lead me to who he wanted me to marry, and He directed me to Kathy.
Kathy’s paternal grandfather wrote a book entitled “As I Remember It at 73”. Kathy continues to say she is going to write her book of life at seventy-three. I pray she does get to.
Kathy’s children were blessed to have her as their mother. They had no choice but to succeed. She is the most loving mother they could have been blessed with. She did not spoil her children. They learned to love and respect others. I witnessed her directing their lives, not micromanaging or being a “helicopter mother” but as a mother who helped her children to be self-sufficient, really more God sufficient.
Kathy has led by example. When one sees Kathy, they witness a perfect mother and wife. They see a woman who puts others ahead of herself. Kathy demonstrated her faith not just by words, but by actions.
Time has taken its toll on us. Years have passed and many start seeing us as old and archaic. Kathy and I are a team. Age has not decreased our ability to demonstrate the love of God. People do not see a perfect couple walking together, but they do see a family of dedication ready to follow God as a couple that were born not 73 years ago, but in the heart of God.
Thank you, God for Kathy (nmi) Johnson Hartman. The most perfect person I know outside of Jesus.
