Daily Devotion (March 10, 2024)
Galatians 1:3–5 (Read Galatians 1:3-10)
3 Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, 4 who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, 5 to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
The church was under attack. False teachers were in the church proclaiming a false doctrine. They were teaching a salvation of faith and works. Paul proclaimed salvation comes only through faith in Jesus. Paul taught that a person is saved by God’s grace and His grace alone.
Today we are still saved by God’s grace alone. Our salvation comes through faith in God. We cannot earn His salvation.
We live in an age where ministers of Satan are proclaiming a false Gospel. False teachers are all around us. Many, as in Paul’s day, are turning from the truth of God’s Word and not listening to the truth of God. Ignorance in the Word of God has swept through the church in a mighty way. Many churches are no longer teaching the true doctrine of Christ. People are clamoring to the false teaching searching for a hope not found in the Bible. No longer are people searching for God’s truth in the Bible but listening to an easy Gospel.
In verse six Paul expresses shock at how the church has turned away so easily from the truth of God. Paul did not address the false teachers but the church. False teachers are going to do what false teachers do. Just as the lost are going to do what the lost do. Satan lives in the lives of the false teachers and the lost. The church of God should never allow the false teaching to come into the Body of Christ.
The body of Christ is to absorb and teach the truth of God. The preachers and teachers do not proclaim a Gospel to please man or tickle ears. The greatest war taking place today is not seen with the physical eye. It is spiritual. It is happening all around us.
Personally, I cannot write, teach, or preach to appeal to the carnal nature of people. I must proclaim the truth of God’s Word. There is a spiritual cancer growing in the church today. The cancer must be Eradicated. A few weeks ago, we had an invasion of ants coming into our house. We fought the invasion using poisons and other means. The invasion continued. I had to find the source from where the ants were coming from and destroy it. The same is true in the church. When evil, false teaching is coming into the church the source must be found and destroyed. The greatest love shown to people is not syrupy words coming from the mouth of a preacher but the truth of God.
