Lamentations 3:22-23
22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.
The love of God never ceases. His mercies never end. We begin our day in the love of God and end our day in the love of God. The love of God is steadfast. God’s love is a nurturing love such as that of a mother.
Jerusalem has fallen. The people were taken captive. The Temple was destroyed. No matter how often we fall away from God. No matter if we reject God…He will always love us. My mother often said the only love greater than that of a mother is the love of God.
Lamentations portray the anguish and suffering of a people who have turned their backs on God and gone the way of the world or more specifically the way of Satan. God’s judgment was brought about because of the sins of the people, God’s chosen people.
The nation suffered. But there was hope! In times of crisis our faith in God endures. We may have sinned. We may have fallen short of God’s goal and purpose for our lives. God is still there when we turn to Him with a heart of full assurance as Hebrews 10:22 says, “Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.”
We must trust God. Our deep-seated peace, trust and conviction is found in our relationship with God. My Christian friends, take your eyes off the things of this world and focus on God.
- Attach, anchor yourself in the Word of God!
- Pray! Spend time in honest, heartfelt prayer.
- Build a deeper relationship with God in your studying the Bible and deepening your prayer life.
- Strengthen your relationship with God through your Christian community, your church.
- Don’t just go to church, get involved in church. Don’t just be someone who is a pew warmer, get out of the pew and get involved.
Church is where we invite God to transform our lives. Take time to reflect on His love and extend that love to others.
