Ephesians 5:8–11 (NKJV)
8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as
children of light
9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth),
10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord.
11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather
expose them.
How does light expose the darkness? A light not empowered is of no use. We
can have, or profess to have the light of God living in our life, but if it is not
exposed what good is it?
Can light have fellowship with darkness? When light meets darkness then
the darkness disperses. Darkness cannot exist in the light.
John 3:19–21 “And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into
the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds
were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to
the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes
to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in
God.”
Christians do not hate non-Christians. Christians have a responsibility to love
those who have rejected God. Christians have a responsibility to share the
light of Jesus with those living in darkness.
The true light of Jesus can never be extinguished. But we can hide the light.
Jesus said, in Matthew 5:14–16,“You are the light of the world. A city that is
set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a
basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let
your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and
glorify your Father in heaven.”
Those who are not part of Christ’s Kingdom cannot afford us to hide the
Light of Jesus Christ. Today, deliberately make the choice to let the Light of
Jesus shine through you today!
