1 Peter 2:1–5
1Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking,
2as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby,
3if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
4Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious,
5 you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

As a Christian think about who you are! You are a chosen child of God!
You are precious in the eyes of God. The filthy rags of the old life are stripped away. Those things that defile the believer God strips away. We are to love one another with a pure heart. The things that defile us keep us from loving others. Paul list five things we must allow God to strip away.

As a follower of Christ we no longer allow sin to reign in our lives. Romans 6:12–13 “Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God: malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy and evil speaking.

As Christians we are no longer controlled by the past. We are new creations in Christ. The old things in life are put behind us. Our focus is now Christ. We now allow Christ to reign in our lives. 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

Easter is about life, life in Christ. We are now a new creation in Christ. We are to walk in Christ. We are no longer to allow the sin of Satan and this world to control us. There is power in the blood of Jesus.

1 John 1:7 “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” Romans 5:9 “Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.”
