Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.”
Maybe, for a while this will be the last time I use this passage of Scripture. Maybe it may just be in my life that I need to understand obedience to God’s will. The problem I see in so many professing Christians is a license to sin. I believe that once a person is saved, that is they have honestly, truly, and sincerely accepted Christ they are saved for eternity. But how many of them after confessing Christ with their mouth go back to living a life without truly following Christ. So many go through life as if Christ did not exist. Many never even darken the doorway of a church and others go to church to be entertained or worship the worship service instead of God. Is Jesus truly the Lord of your life?
I text members of our church each week inviting them to come to church on Sunday. Most do not respond to the text, but some do. I get so many reasons, excuses as to why they cannot be at church. (You do know Hebrews 10:25 emphasizes the importance of community and mutual encouragement among believers. It states: “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”)
The question is, “Is Jesus the Lord of your life?” For me it means letting go of the things of this world and take hold of Jesus. To “take hold of Jesus” means to embrace faith in Him wholeheartedly and to live in a way that reflects His teachings and love. It involves trusting in His grace, seeking a personal relationship with Him, and allowing His presence to guide your life.
This phrase can also signify surrendering to His will and finding purpose in His plans for you. Many on that day will say Lord, Lord but will not enter into Heaven.
How heartbreaking.
