Daily Devotion (March 4, 2025)

Hebrews 10:26-27
For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.

There is no hope of eternal life without Jesus. There can be no false profession of faith. The “knowledge of truth” is more than intellectual knowledge. The truth of Jesus is living our lives for Him. The sacrifice of Jesus is the only sacrifice that is sufficient for our sins and rejecting it leaves no other means for our salvation.

The believer, follower of Christ must take seriously their faith in Jesus.

True believers in Jesus do not deliberately sin. Do Christians sin, yes. The sin may be out of ignorance, or weakness. As the believer grows in faith he focuses more on Jesus and allows His Spirit to live and work in His life. He has a greater desire to be in the presence of Christ and allow Him to direct his life.

What is deliberate sin? It is a willful or intentional sin. There is a conscious decision to turn away from God.

We must take our faith in Jesus seriously. Satan is on the prowl. We see all to often professing Christians not taking their faith seriously. Aside from giving the lost the fodder to criticize Christianity we see the consequences of not seriously following Christ. There is a strained relationship with God. Our faith must be nurtured feeding on the Word of God and constant Christian fellowship.

Not taking our faith seriously leads to a loss of inner peace. And unfortunately, we notice a weakening of our moral compass. True biblical faith guides us in making decisions based on God’s Word.

Not taking our faith seriously strains our relationship with others. Our values change. There is a lack of discipline and commitment to God.

There is a stern biblical warning given to the follower of Christ. The believer will be judged. The follower of Christ must continually nurture their faith. Personal prayer, Bible study, fellowship with other Christians, corporate worship are just a few areas of focus for the true Christian. Focus on Jesus.
