Jeremiah 1:5 (NKJV)
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”
What is it that God does not know? Nothing! Jeremiah heard the Word of God. He knew God’s calling in his life. Today God is calling. His calling is not just for the preacher, the teacher, the missionary or evangelist. His calling is for everyone. Jesus speaks these words to His followers, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
God does not just call us to His comfort. He wants us to know when He is there for us when we are in despair, pain, or even frightened. He is here for us now. There is a greater call from God. It is the call to follow Him.
1 Kings 18:21 “And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word.”
Revelation 22:17 “And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.”
1 Timothy 2:3–4 “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
God’s call is for more than just going to heaven.
Matthew 11:28–30 “28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
John 11:25–26 “25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
This is God’s calling to us. To believe in Him.
