1 Peter 2:9–10 (NKJV)
9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.
Know who you are! God loves all people. Not all people love God. Re-emphasizing, God loves all people. Not all people accept God’s love. If you have chosen to be chosen by God (This phrase comes from “A Theology for Children” by William Hendricks) then you are part of the chosen generation. I reemphasize the love of God. Why? Because God loves all people, John 3:16, but not all people choose to accept God’s love. We need to keep the love of God in our mind and our heart and demonstrate why the world needs to accept His love.
Christianity is being rejected in America. God is at work in the lives of His chosen people. Even if the lost are rejecting Christ, believers, followers are to not only accept Him but are to be involved in allowing Christ to work in their lives. Reaching out to the world, the lost, sharing the love of Jesus Christ is allowing Him to work in one’s life.
I asked a Calvinist friend why he witnessed to others. He said because he did not know who God had chosen to be saved. I will accept that. We do not know who will chose to chosen. We do know Christ died for the sin of the world. We are to be witnesses to the world. Christ paid the ultimate price for us to have an eternal relationship with Him. We are to be witnesses to the world sharing His desire to see all people saved.
If we want to see the nation changed, we must be witnessing to those who are lost. Followers of Christ must be living their lives for Christ. Peter says that at one time we were not a part of the people of God. When Christ came into our lives we became a part of the people of God. It is greater than seeing a nation changed, it is pulling others from the fiery pits of Hell. It is an eternal message of hope to those who are walking in the darkness of satanic influence.
Maybe the problem in the world is not political. Maybe the problem is spiritual. Maybe we do not need to depend on “political action groups” but on “Christian action groups”. Maybe we do not need to have sanctuary’s full of people seeking to be made to feel good, but people who are worshiping God and preparing to go into the world proclaiming Jesus as Lord.
Church worship services, Bible study groups, even Sunday School is a great way to prepare to carry out the “Great Commission.”
Hebrews 10:23–25
23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
