Luke 18:16 (NKJV) — 16 But Jesus called them to Him and said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.

Children are a gift from God!

We may not know it but we can be one of those who are keeping the children from coming to God!

We are ardently, emphatically determined to make sure our children are secularly educated. We believe in the three R’s. We also believe in teaching our children how to think.

The problem is we leave the teaching up to others. I am thankful for the teachers. Most of them are great. They work hard not only during school hours but also when not in school preparing to teach our children. They not only put in long hours studying and preparing but also spend their own money.

I’ve been told that love begins at home. Education also begins at home. Whether we intentionally teach at home or not…we teach. Our children are watching us. I may with my mouth profess one thing but my actions prove what I say. I may say I believe in something but my action prove if I truly do or not.

God is the most important of all. His Word should be hidden in my heart. He, God, must be in my heart. How do others know He is? They know not just because I say so. They know by observation. My actions prove what I believe. Our children are watching! I can sing “Oh, How I Love Jesus”, “Trust and Obey” or some other song but my actions prove how much I love Jesus, or how much I trust Him or obey Him.

The point is parents teach! Our children spend over 40 hours each week in school. They are being taught. Much of the time we do not know what they are being taught. How much time do we spend teaching our children about the most important thing they need to learn? How much time are we spending with our children teaching them about God? We must be teaching them about God and His Word the Bible. We must be sure they have the opportunity to accept, Christ as their Savior. Paul wrote in Romans 10:14-15, “How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!” Parents are the proclaimer of God’s Word to their children.

Unless we move back to God the nation is doomed. The home is a great place to begin.
