Psalm 122:1 (NKJV) — 1 I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go into the house of the LORD.”

The testimony of a true child of God and public worship!

What a testimony. Knowing you are going to God’s House of Worship. To be with other followers of Christ should be exhilarating.

The excitement has nothing to do with the style of worship or length of the service, IT HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH WHO THE OBJECT OF OUR WORSHIP IS.

The key to true worship is our hearts.

John 4:24, “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

The emphasis of worship is God. There are no idols or images in our worship of God. Knowing the truth of God is the ultimate reality of real worship.

Deuteronomy 6:5,“You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.” The love of God is the essence of true worship. Jesus quoted this passage in Luke 10:27.

Psalm 119:11, “Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.” The Word of God is stored up in the heart of the believer in God.

Matthew 22:37, “Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’” We desire, yearn, and long to be with the one we love. Our love for God compels us to be with Him. Our private, individual worship of God leads us to be with fellow believers of Christ.

Again, the writer of Hebrews instructs us to “not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:25)
