Matthew 11:28–30 (NKJV)
28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
What is your burden? Give it to Jesus! What is weighing you down? Give it to Jesus!
Who is to come to Jesus? The weary and the burdened—the person who is laboring, the heavily laden, exhausted, despairing, the one who is weighed down, ready to stop and collapse.
There are good things that can weigh us down: family, work, play …sometimes it is allowing the good to take over the best. It could be living a worldly and carnal lifestyle. Living a false truth can be laborious and tiring. Jesus said, “You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.” (John 8:32)
One of the major causes of exhaustion is not knowing the Truth of Life. The “Truth of Life” of course is Jesus. The only one who can give us rest is Jesus. No matter how great the burden, the struggle in life we can come to Jesus.
What about the one who has not given his life to Jesus? This person is offered the rest found in Salvation. Not knowing “The Truth” of life is one of the major causes of exhaustion.
Not to be redundant but to reemphasis the only one who can give rest is Jesus. What are the conditions in receiving rest in Jesus? It is simply coming to Him.
