Psalm 8:1–4
1 O LORD, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth, Who have set Your glory above the heavens!
2 Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, Because of Your enemies, That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.
3 When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained,
4 What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?

In view of the universe, we are less than a tiny dot. The sun is 0.00001581 light-years away. The universe is around 93 billion light years in diameter. Don’t quote me on this, it is only to show how small and insignificant we are. But also, to show how significant we are to God! As a kid, I remember lying in the yard at night gazing into the dark sky counting the stars.

Considering all of God’s creation, we are less than a microscopic speck in the mind of God. Everything God has created has a purpose. Everything God created has a purpose. Even our small, little, microscopic beings have a purpose. When we consider God and His creation that should lead us to praise Him.

David in viewing the universe could see with only his eyes, and it was enough to praise God. Today we can see so much more of the universe and yet we are more enthralled with our genius than God’s creative love for us. Psalm 17:8 tells us how important we are to God, and His protection, “Keep me as the apple of Your eye; Hide me under the shadow of Your wings.”

Psalm 8:9 sums up the psalm “… O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is your name in all the earth.”
