1 Corinthians 6:20
20 For you were bought at a price; therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
1 Corinthians 7:23
23 You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men.
The problem is we, God’s greatest creation, have fallen to the ways of Satan.
The solution is Jesus.
The problem is we have professed with our mouth Jesus but have not made Jesus the Lord of our lives. Romans 10:9 “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
What does the gospel of Christ demand? Faith! An open confession of Jesus. True biblical faith is constant steadfast trust and confidence in God and His promises. Faith is trust in God, Belief in Jesus Christ, and obedience to God’s Word. Faith is not a passive word. To say I have faith in God means nothing if it is not evidenced by how we live our lives. James 2:17 “Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” How many have professed Jesus with their mouth but have not proved that faith by their actions.
True faith brings hope and assurance. This is confident hope in God’s promises and assurance of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1).
True faith is perseverance. Pulpiteers may say God takes away the pain and suffering of life. God may at times do this. But a deeper meaning and maybe more biblical is God walking with us through the trials and challenges of life. As we walk through the circumstances of life, we know God is with us no matter how difficult life is. What a witness it is to the world when people see Jesus working in our lives.
Listed are a few of the people who suffered because of their faith:
- Job
- Joseph
- Moses
- David
- Jeremiah
- Daniel
- Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego
- Stephen
- Paul
True biblical faith is trusting God even in the darkest days of our lives. David wrote in Psalm 23:4, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”
Live your life for Jesus today. With Jesus you will never walk alone. Our hope is not found in the world…it is found in Jesus.
