Galatians 5:1 (NKJV)
1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and
do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.
Freedom!!! We cry out for freedom and do not have any idea what true
freedom is about. Freedom is not free. Someone has paid the price for the
freedom others have enjoyed. Citizens of the United States of America have
remarkable freedom that most of the world does not have. Freedom of
speech, religion, press, assembly and the right to petition the government.
These are five freedoms we have. How many know the Constitution of the
United States? The First Amendment to the Constitution? “Congress shall
make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free
exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the
right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government
for a redress of grievances.” This Amendment is why you can turn your
television on and watch all the protests of people who hate America and the
freedom it gives. The best education I have received has been taking my
grandsons to and from school for the past years.
There is a greater freedom we have and most people either are ignorant of
or despise it. It is the greatest freedom anyone can have. It is the freedom
given to us by Christ. It cost us nothing. But it cost Jesus everything. It is a
freedom given in love. For God so loved… (John 3:16).
True freedom did not originate with the Constitution of the United States. It
began with God. Jesus states in John 8:36, “Therefore, if the Son (Jesus)
makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”
Without Christ living in us we are slaves to sin! Romans 6:22 tells us we
have been set free from the enslavement of sin, “But now having been set
free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to
holiness, and the end, everlasting life.
We are saved to enjoy the fruit of God’s love. Galatians 5:22-23, “But the
fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.”
The true freedom we can enjoy is not what we find in this world. It is the
freedom we find inside ourselves. The freedom we have in knowing Jesus is
not just a ticket to Heaven, but a breaking of the bonds of sin which
as Hebrews 12:1 states “THEREFORE WE ALSO, SINCE WE ARE
SURROUNDED BY SO GREAT A CLOUD OF WITNESSES, LET US LAY

ASIDE EVERY WEIGHT, and THE SIN WHICH SO EASILY ENSNARES
US, and LET US RUN WITH ENDURANCE THE RACE THAT IS SET
BEFORE US
.”
