Philippians 2:2 (NKJV) — 2 fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the
same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
The members of a church should have the joy of Christ living in them. The
joy of Christ should be in the church. Joy can only be fulfilled if there is unity
between the members of the church. The church is to be like-minded, having
the same love, being of one accord and of one mind. That mind is the MIND
OF CHRIST!
The members of the church are not to emulate one another. If the Christian
copies the life of another Christian, he is making a copy of a copy. (This may
be too simplistic.) Each copy made from a copy becomes more and more
distorted from the original. As much as we can be awestruck by the life of
another, that person is not Jesus. It is as Paul wrote in Philippians 3:10,
“that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship
of His sufferings, being conformed to His death.”
The church is to be united in Jesus. The church is to have no division found
in Christ. 1 Corinthians 1:10, “Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name
of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there
be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the
same mind and in the same judgment.”
Jesus said in Matthew 12:25, “…Every kingdom divided against itself is
brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not
stand.” The church does not stand on the words of man, but of God. Satan
will use every means to divide the church. He knows all the schemes.
There is no body of Christ that is so strong that it has no problems. The
church is to work together to carry out God’s will and purpose. The church,
as the body of Christ is to be united and build up one another. Philippians
2:3, “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness
of mind let each esteem others better than himself.”
