Isaiah 64:6 (NKJV) 6 But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our
righteousness’s are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities,
like the wind, Have taken us away.
Psalm 38:4 (NKJV) 4 For my iniquities have gone over my head; Like a
heavy burden they are too heavy for me.
Luke 14:33 (NKJV) 33 So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all
that he has cannot be My disciple.
SIN! Evil, Immorality, Offense, Wickedness, Dishonesty… Have you ever
noticed that “Devil” cannot be spelled without “evil”. Everything that is
wrong in the world is brought about by sin. Sin can be defined in several
ways. One is “an immoral act considered to be a transgression” against who?
God! I still like Child Evangelism’s definition of sin. I learned this by doing
children’s camp for inner-city children. “Sin is any thought or behavior that is
contrary to the Word of God or His character. IT IS ANYTHING ONE
THINKS, SAYS OR DOES THAT IS DISPLEASING TO GOD.”
Sin separates us from God. God cannot look upon sin. Habakkuk 1:13, “You
are of purer eyes than to behold evil, And cannot look on
wickedness.” Jesus crying from the cross said in Matthew 27:46, “And about
the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama
sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” When
Christ died on the cross, He took upon Himself the sin of the world. He died
in our place. And yet we forsake Him.
Why do Christian’s sin? Do we take so lightly our profession of faith in Christ.
Do we not believe what the Bible, the Word of God says? Living a successful
Christian life is forsaking the things of this world. It is forsaking Satan, the
devil. Living in the sin of this world does not give us the “gusto” of life we
want.
Are you dissatisfied with your life? Don’t blame God, or the church. Look
inward to your heart. There are many miserable “Christians”. They have
accepted the tenants of God in their minds but not in their hearts.
Matthew 7:22–24, “Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we
not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done
many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never
knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ 24 “Therefore
whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a
wise man who built his house on the rock.”
