Daily Devotion (November 6, 2024)

Psalm 20:7–8
7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the LORD our God.
8 They have bowed down and fallen; But we have risen and stand upright.

The elections are over. Now what? Monday night millions (?) of people throughout the nation bowed in their homes and prayed for the election.

Is God a partisan God? Did the prayer’s lead America in the direction we must Go? I believe God does hear and answer our prayers. Now we as followers and believers in Jesus Christ must act. The real question is who do we trust? Do we put our trust in the chariots and horses, or do we trust in the One who is the true power of God?

In the end we know God wins. The “Christian” community now needs to show their trust is in God. David, the king, called for the people to place their trust, their confidence in God.

We have several stories in the Bible where God used small numbers to defeat the mighty.

  • Gideon’s victory over the Midianite’s. God reduced the number of Gideons army from 32,000 to 300 men to defeat the Midianites.
  • David defeated Goliath with just a sling.
  • The Battle of Jericho was won by the army marching around the fortified city for seven days then blowing the trumpets.

When we do what God has called us to do and do it His way then the victory comes. God has already won. Now it is up to us to follow Him.

Never gloat over the victory God gives. In victory do as James writes in James 4:10 “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.” And remember what peter wrote in 1 Peter 5:6 “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.”

The victory belongs to the Lord.
Proverbs 21:31 ”The horse is prepared for the day of battle, But deliverance is of the LORD.”
1 Corinthians 15:57 “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
