1 Peter 2:4–8 (NKJV)
4 Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by
God and precious, 5 you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual
house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God
through Jesus Christ. 6 Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture,
“Behold, I lay in Zion A chief cornerstone, elect, precious, And he who
believes on Him will by no means be put to shame.” 7 Therefore, to you who
believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient, “The stone which
the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone,” 8 and “A stone of
stumbling And a rock of offense.” They stumble, being disobedient to the
word, to which they also were appointed.
If you are a Christian, the world is going to reject you. But remember who
you are. You have been accepted by God!
You are not saved to just go to Heaven. While here in this life you are being
built up to be and are a part of God’s house and part of God’s priesthood.
Your life is not being built upon the foundation of this world but upon the
solid rock, Jesus Christ. You belong to God and to one another as Christians.
You are part of the Family of God!
Your existence in God’s family is important. Your life is being built upon the
foundation of Jesus Christ. Isaiah 28:16 says, “Therefore thus says the Lord
GOD: “Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, A tried stone, a
precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; Whoever believes will not act
hastily.” Whatever is being built upon the foundation of this world will fall…it
is sinking sand. But the “sure foundation” of Jesus cannot be moved…He is
the Solid Rock. Psalm 118:22, “The stone which the builders rejected Has
become the chief cornerstone.”
The world stumbles over the Rock, Jesus, because they refuse to submit to
Him. Those who obey the Word of God and believe in Him will be saved.
1 Corinthians 1:18–19, “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those
who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For
it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And bring to nothing the
understanding of the prudent.” Those who believe in Christ will not be
hindered by the Word of God. Here is who you are in Jesus Christ:
Ephesians 2:19–22 (NKJV) — 19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers
and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the
household of God, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles
and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom
the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the

Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of
God in the Spirit.
