John 15:5
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
This verse emphasizes the importance of staying connected to Jesus in order to live a fruitful and meaningful life. It suggests that our spiritual growth and effectiveness come from our relationship with Him. It’s a powerful reminder of our dependence on Christ. How do you find this connection impacting your daily life?
Powerless Christians! Or at least powerless professions of faith. Many accept the idea of going to Heaven when they die. They are not told there is more to accepting Christ than telling God you want to go to Heaven.
There’s no fruit being produced. The likely reason is a lack of connection. An apple won’t grow unless it’s attached to the branch. A grape won’t develop unless it’s connected to the vine. Similarly, a professing Christian won’t grow unless they’re connected to Jesus, the true vine, Jesus.
If you are saved and going to Heaven, someone told you about Jesus. Thank God for that person. Thank that person. But do not stop there. Coming to Jesus is a marriage. You are to live in union with Him.
Ephesians 5:25–27
25Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,
26that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word,
27that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.
To love Jesus is to walk with Him. As a husband and wife spend time together they develop a closer relationship. Christians spend time with Jesus developing a closer relationship with Him.
Followers of Jesus are obedient to Him. They follow Jesus His teachings and commandments. The live a life that is aligned with His principles. They are reading and studying the Bible. The Christian seeks to understand and apply God’s word in their daily lives.
