Ephesians 4:1–6 (NKJV)1 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, 2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with long suffering, bearing with one another in love, 3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
Walk worthy of your calling.
What is your calling? As a Christian you are a Child of God! You are a part of the Family of God. So, walk worthy of your place in God’s family. We are not all the same. God created us to be part of His family and there is a position a place for each one.We are to walk as Jesus walked.
We first must remember we are to walk in the Lord…not the way of the world. It is God who places us where we are to serve Him…we do not make the choice. Paul explains our duty and responsibilities in Christ. There is an emphasis on the unity of the believer. The Christian life is not based on ignorance of God but on knowledge. Paul, in the first three chapters of Ephesians, gives us the knowledge. We must study the Word of God and fellowship with other Christians. Christians are to strip away the old and put on the new. What we believe about God and His word makes a difference and determines what we believe. What we believe DOES determine how we behave.
We have been raised from the dead so put off the grave clothes (Ephesians 2:1-10• We have been reconciled to God so walk in harmony (Ephesians 2:11-22)• Christ is victorious over Satan so walk in victory (Ephesians 6:10-14)• Christians are to walk in love and live for the glory of God. We are to walk, to live up to the calling of God.
