Titus 2:1–5 (NKJV)
1 But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine:
2 that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love,
in patience;
3 the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not
slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things—
4 that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their
children,
5 to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own
husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.
I am not the brightest bulb in the package. I understand that. But I do
believe in education. I spent almost 20 years in formal education and am
still being educated today. I appreciate those who actually taught me truth. I
am concerned about education in public schools and institutions of higher
learning in today’s America. The woke, cancel culture, and radical biases
being taught is changing the thought process of the generations to come. I
begin this devotion this way to make a point.
Truth! There can be only one absolute truth and therefore can be only one
truth. Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way, THE TRUTH, and the life. No
one comes to the Father except through Me.” Pilate asked Jesus, “What is
truth?” Pilate could find no fault in Jesus and wanted to set Him free.
The church is God’s multifaceted institution which includes learning. It is
more than just coming to a worship service (as important as it is) and
singing a few songs and listening to a preacher speak a few words from the
Bible. The church is an institution of learning! Beginning with the preschooler
going all the way through adulthood. Many are missing out on learning the
Truth about God because they are not involved in church.
In Titus, Paul exhorts him to “speak the things which are proper for sound
doctrine.” In other words, PREACH THE TRUTH OF GOD! Paul tells Titus to
live and preach and teach sound doctrine. There were in Paul’s day false
teachers. Today there are false teachers. How do we know if the preacher is
preaching the Word of God…the Truth? We must do our homework! We must
be in the Word of God not just in a Sunday morning “worship” service but
daily reading the Word of God. Attending weekly Bible studies. Going to
Sunday morning Bible studies at church.
Again, there is only one truth. That truth is found in the Bible proclaimed by
those who have studied the Word of God. Taught by those who have

diligently delved into the study of God’s Word themselves. I am one who by
the standard of today would be canceled in the world. I believe in God; Jesus
is my Savior and Lord. I stand by His Word, the Bible.
What about you?
