2 Peter 2:1–3 (NKJV)
1 But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be
false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies,
even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift
destruction.
2 And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of
truth will be blasphemed.
3 By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long
time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not
slumber.
Jesus said, in John 8:32, “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall
make you free.” How do we know we know the truth? We practice and tell
the truth by how we live our lives. The most important truth we can and will
ever know is the truth of God.
Many today speak but they do not speak the truth. To practice the truth, WE
MUST KNOW THE TRUTH.
The Bible is the Truth, the true Word of God.
Read the Bible, study the Bible, and allow the Bible to be absorbed into your
life. Live the Word of God! Never allow anything to take the place of God and
His Word in your life.
1 Peter 5:8–9, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks
about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast
in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your
brotherhood in the world.” How do we resist the devil? We know the Word of
God!
We study the Word of God! We focus on the Word of God!
The psalmist wrote in Psalm 119:11,“Your word I have hidden in my heart,
That I might not sin against You.”
Psalm 119:105, “Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.”
Hebrews 4:12, “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than
any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of
joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the
heart.”
We have the power to overcome Satan and the evil of this world. We are
equipped with all the weapons of evil formed against us. But, we need to
know them and practice what has been given to us. How do we know?
Through the Word of God, the Bible.
