John 10:10
“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
Throughout history, there have been a multitude who have wanted others to follow them. Their way is destruction. They promise security and prosperity and freedom. Their path is wide and inviting. It leads to destruction. Jesus says in Matthew 7:13, “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.” We are given options.
There are no shortcuts to success. What may seem restrictive, and it is, opens up to a life of true freedom. “His Majesty the Baby”, the narcissistic attitude taught to many says, “I want it and I want it now” leads only to destruction.
Jesus continues in verse 14 telling His followers, “Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it” Few are willing to walk the narrow path. Many will work hard to pull you back from entering the “Narrow Gate. “
Destruction is the life of those who follow the thief. Jesus is the only way to life, abundant life.
Satan does not want anyone to enter the narrow gate. He has many who will try and dissuade you from entering.
True abundant life is not found in the wide gates of life. That gate is welcoming on the outside but filled with anger and darkness on the inside. The path is maintained by Satan. There is a price to pay.
True abundant life is found only in Jesus. The gate to follow Him is narrow. Many will work hard to keep others from entering. There is a price to pay to walk this path. Jesus has already paid the price…on the cross.
