Psalm 73:21–24 (NKJV)
21 Thus my heart was grieved, And I was vexed in my mind.
22 I was so foolish and ignorant; I was like a beast before You.
23 Nevertheless I am continually with You; You hold me by my right hand.
24 You will guide me with Your counsel, And afterward receive me to glory.
How often do we look into the world and wonder where God is? As Asaph
was grieved we grieve and our minds are troubled. We are troubled by what
we are witnessing in the world. I just saw a report on television where
California has passed a bill punishing parents who don’t ‘AFIRM’ trans kids in
custody battles.
Asaph’s affirmation was that God was his only possession in Heaven and on
earth. Asaph was overwhelmed with the wickedness of people. The picture
Asaph leaves with me is the child holding the parent’s hand. The child may
not understand all that is going on around him but he trusts the parent.
I do not understand all that is going on. I cannot understand the decisions,
the choices people make. Honestly, I do not understand all there is about
God. What I do know is God has been faithful and is still faithful in leading
me down the right path. The guidance of God is always down the path of
righteousness. David knew it and Asaph knew it. The world leads us away
from God into a life of sin. David wrote in Psalm 23:3 “He (God) restores my
soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.” We
may at times deviate and walk away from God, but He is faithful in restoring
us and putting us back on the right path.
Asaph knew God was his only possession on earth. No matter how
overwhelmed Asaph was, God was his strength. He knew there were those
who prospered even in their wickedness but only those who knew God would
experience a prosperity that would last eternally.
Proverbs 3:5–6 (NKJV)
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own
understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
No matter how bad things get know God is and God is in control. We know
the end of the story. God wins!
