Psalm 3
1 LORD, how they have increased who trouble me! Many are they who rise up against me.
2 Many are they who say of me, “There is no help for him in God.” Selah
3 But You, O LORD, are a shield for me, my glory and the One who lifts up my head.
4 I cried to the LORD with my voice, And He heard me from His holy hill. Selah
5 I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the LORD sustained me.
6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people Who have set themselves against me all around.
7 Arise, O LORD; Save me, O my God! For You have struck all my enemies on the cheekbone; You have broken the teeth of the ungodly.
8Salvation belongs to the LORD. Your blessing is upon Your people. Selah
How to overcome! There lies within each of us an enemy. I will let you decide who your enemy is. We know who the great enemy is. It is Satan. Satan hates us. He has no choice but to hate.
Satan is our adversary, our accuser. He challenges our faith and integrity. Yes, he will test the integrity of our faith. In times of trouble and despair one learns who their friends and family truly are. Job learned that lesson. Our friends may say that God has forsaken you and will not deliver you.
Satan will attack and he uses people often in his attack. When Satan attacks, we do not run but stand firm in the Lord. We lay our suffering before God. We will face many enemies. As followers of Christ many times we find the enemy in our own family as David did with Absolum. The enemy may be a friend as with Job. Satan uses many ways to destroy us. When true followers face trouble, some even question their relationship with the Lord. Stand firm in the Lord.
Deuteronomy 31:8 “And the LORD, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”
Remember as David wrote in verse 8, “Salvation belongs to the Lord.”
