John 14:6 (NKJV) “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
Jesus is! Bottom Line. If Jesus is not, then we are not.
Jesus is THE Creator of all things. If Jesus did not exist, then we would not be.
Jesus is the reason for our existence.
Three things Jesus said about Himself in this verse.
- “I Am the Way.” Jesus does not just point us in the right directions He takes us, guides us in the right direction. There is no way we could ever find our way to the Father except through Jesus. He is, as the writer of Hebrews 10:19-20 says, the One who gives us the boldness to enter into the holiest, or the presence of God. It is Jesus who has prepared the way for us to enter into a new and living way.
- “I Am the Truth.” Jesus is the very expression of Truth. When we look to Jesus, we see God. Jesus is the picture of Truth. Jesus reveals the ultimate source of truth because He is Truth. Jesus shows us the right way to the Truth because he is Truth. Pilate asked Jesus, “What is Truth” then went out to the people and said, “I find no fault in this man.” Jesus is not a truth, He is Truth.
- “I Am the Life.” Jesus does not just tell us about life, He is life. He possesses life in perfection. Jesus is the embodiment, the very force and source of life. Jesus says in John 10:10, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I HAVE COME THAT THEY MAY HAVE LIFE, AND THAT THEY MAY HAVE IT MORE ABUNDANTLY.”
The only way to God the Father is Through God the Son.
John 10:7–10 “7 Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. 8 All who ever came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. 9 I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
The bottom line is, “Jesus Is”. If He is not then we are not.
