Daily Devotion (September 2, 2024)

Ecclesiastes 3:22
“So I perceived that nothing is better than that a man should rejoice in his own works, for that is his heritage. For who can bring him to see what will happen after him?”

Happy Labor Day
Labor Day in the United States has its origins in the labor movement of the late 19th century. It was established to honor the contributions and achievements of American workers. The first Labor Day celebration took place on September 5, 1882, in New York City, organized by the Central Labor Union.

The idea quickly gained traction, and by 1887, Oregon became the first state to make it an official public holiday. In 1894, following the Pullman Strike, President Grover Cleveland signed a law making Labor Day a national holiday, celebrated on the first Monday in September.

God has a plan and a purpose for each of us. We should rejoice in God’s calling in our lives. We should give God our best in all we do.
