John 14:1 (NKJV)
1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.
In the Bible, the concept of “believe” goes beyond merely acknowledging something as true. It encompasses a deeper, more personal trust and commitment. To say we believe in God from a biblical perspective means we put our trust in God. Jesus could tell us to put our trust in Him because He is God in the flesh. Jesus uses the words of God spoken to Moses at the burning bush. Moses asked who do I tell Pharaoh sent me? God says tell Pharaoh, “I Am” has sent you.
Jeremiah 29:11
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
You were born into this world with a God given purpose. God has a plan and a purpose for your life.
Philippians 4:6–7
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
The greatest peace we can have is not found in the things of this world. It is not in the philosophies of man. True peace is found in God. The psalmist writes, Psalm 20:7 “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the LORD our God.”
In 1988 Bobby McFerrin released the song, “Don’t Worry, Be Happy.” McFerrin’s solution to peace and happiness is shallow. The biblical answer is found in Philippians 4:6-7, “…but in EVERYTHING by prayer and supplication, WITH thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.”
